For the first time in the history of Purdue residence living, an extravagant conference and exposition was administered to bring professional information together with community-building and fun. Throughout the event, topic specialists were present to speak, donations were made for prize give-a-ways, and sessions were held to promote discourse.
With a small budget and the value of graduate student time being a top consideration, strategic planning was
used to coordinate the event most efficiently, to prepare food for 100 people, and to make the event momorable for all participants.
With a letter of purpose and presentations made to industry professionals, five guests speakers were eager to join in the event and added years of professional knowledge. Guest speakers included a doctor of nutrition for over 40 years, a doctor and inventor of a healthy wheat making process, a massage therapist, a professional trainer and a psychologist. Each of the speakers gave talks on their particular topics and then participated in question sessions.

As the guest speakers contributed their time, several companies made donations to support the event’s purpose. The Meijer food store donated pounds of healthy food and spring water, Dr. Thayer's Nutrition Center donated dozens and vitamins, healthy supplements and books, Essential Balance & Bodywork donated free massages and oils, and Great Harvest Bread Co. donated dozens of bags of freshly baked bread and like items along with a gift basket of healthy preservatives and candles.

Donations and food were valued at $1120; The total amount paid for the event was $71.39. That is
less than 7% of the quantifiable value of the event and only 28.6% of the event's total budget.
Along with the donations and speakers, the event was also made possible by the efforts of several university staff-residents who donated their time. By managing the efforts of the 14 volunteers, proper planning and organization allowed cooks, setup crew and other helpers to assimilate naturally into the event and helped to make the nutrition fair a great success.
